r   Florida drivers must stop for any pedestrian that
              is blind or visually impaired and stepping into the
              roadway, regardless of their location. This is known
              as the “White Cane Law”*.


          Tips for Pedestrians

          r   Avoid roads and interstates where pedestrians are
              restricted.

          r   Use extra caution at intersections.
          r   Only cross in a
              marked crosswalk,

              especially on multi-
              lane and higher
              speed streets.

          r   Always use the
              sidewalk. When

              there is no
              sidewalk, walk
              facing traffic on the shoulder of the roadway.
          r   Make it easy for drivers to see you by dressing in
              light colors and wearing reflective material both in
              front and back. Use a flashlight at night or in dimly

              lit locations.
          r   Do not count on drivers always paying attention.
              Make eye contact to be sure they see you. Watch
              where you are going at all times.

          r   Avoid any alcohol or drugs that can impair your
              ability to move safely.

          Tips for Bicyclists

          r   Remember that a bicycle is a vehicle and you are
