Today’s older adults are continuing to drive into
their later years and for more miles than in the past.
Research suggests that older adults can expect to
outlive their ability to drive safely by 7 to 10 years.
Who is an Aging Road User?
Florida defines an Aging Road User as someone who is
a driver, passenger, pedestrian, bicyclist, transit-rider,
motorcyclist, or operator of a non-motorized vehicle
who is 50 years of age or older, with a special focus on
the 65 years or older age group.
